So I thought I’d seen it all when it comes to squids, the videos, the pictures, the live streaming autopsy feeds, little did I Know that there are squids down there in the depths of the sea just as bizarre as those of the giant and colossus types.

What I’m talking about are the Bigfin Squid also nicknamed the long-armed squid, they really do look like something out of an Alien movie only they have way longer tentacles. I’ll let the wiki fill you in on the details of these creatures.

I was sent the following video by one of the readers of this blog, I managed to find it on youtube along with a couple others.

At first I almost dismissed this as some kind of computer generated creation, though after a little research I found them to be a real species. All the info you need in identifying where this footage came from is right on screen, lucky that.

I’m pretty sure the next two pieces of footage came from MBARI.

It’s been pretty hard finding any other videos to embed in this post but I did manage to find a site that has a bunch of footage of the bizarre squid, probably lists all the known footage that’s out there.

Geez I love this stuff, I can’t imagine how boring life would be without a daily dose of the strange.
