Is the Morristown Hoax a Good Thing?
I really didn’t follow the Morristown UFO story, I saw all the headlines, but I just wasn’t interested. Now that the hoaxers have come forward, been charged, sentenced and fined the story becomes a little more interesting. Dang just got a few flashbacks of the Georgia Bigfoot Hoax.
Early on in my paranormal blogging I thought about releasing balloons into the sky and filming them, for research purposes only and not to fool anyone, but after a little more thinking quite a few unknowns bugged me, what if the balloons interfered with air traffic, what if the balloons gained to much attention, what if my act created a life long false UFO story for someone. It was just to reckless and I gave up the idea.
Now the Morristown Hoaxers Chris Russo and Joe Rudy I feel have been very reckless, it’s wasted a few peoples time and money, interfered with emergency services, but I do like some of what they have to say about gullibility and the UFO community, but I hate the way they tried to teach us a lesson.
So why ask if the Morristown Hoax is a Good Thing? Well, I think it is but not in the way they intended it to be. Along with the Georgia Bigfoot hoax, the Morristown hoax is a good example of why NOT to create a hoax, come forward or get caught and you get punished in some way. Hopefully these two examples is enough to make wannabe hoaxers think twice about trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the public.
Joe Rudy and Chris Russo’s vlogs on how they perpetrated the hoax.
[...] a little late to the party, surprise. Below is a video about how it was all done. Like the Morristown Hoax this was actually pretty high profile as well. Seems like there’s enough people with the will [...]
I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not, but I’m sure there is so much more to keep ufo fanatics occupied.
awesome collection of videos! this is going to piss off alot of folks that have seen these style of lights before in the sky and felt they were UFO’s. the Arazona one had me fooled but these folks saying the same random stuff. moving into the wind.
never gonna trust vids seeing lights in the night sky again
they did a good thing!
I’ve had a few experiences recently that I haven’t talked about on the blog yet that lead me to agree with what these guys did. Me and a few mates experienced something, but all our accounts of the situation were different and as a result all our differing opinions has skewed our thoughts on the event.
Most say they’ve wasted the UFO communities time and effort, I say we’re all just wasting time until an event that can’t be denied.
Is the Morristown Hoax a good thing? Hmmm let me think about this. Considering that during this last two month period following the end of the hoax period and the disorderly person charges being levied against those arrogant jerks, I have witnessed dozens of unexplainable objects in the sky. lets see here:
1. april 3-4: saw extremely bright low altitude craft heading on a path that would take it directly over the heads of me and three of my friends. Only thing is the craft itself was totally silent, and it wasn’t until it got nearly directly over us that we saw the much smaller orb like object tailing the first object from behind and an upwards 45 degree angle. If you’re wondering why I didn’t see the second object until they were very close overhead, consider that when you look up at the night sky and see what appears to be one star, many times it’s actually a binary or even triplet star system and only the brightest is visible. We drove from cape may court house to whitesboro via route 9 and as soon as we arrived we saw another very bright glowing object. This one was hovering motionless just above the tree line north by north east from where we were standing. Then I looked straight into the sky and noticed to my amazement a craft with red lights that were not only strobing, but appearing to morph and alter position in seemingly impossible speed. I see these quite often and they never ever make a sound. Then the hovering light began to move briskly and it too flew overhead without a sound I was freaked out by then so i went home and that was the end of it for that night. The following night my one friend who’d witnessed the night events the before was telling our other friend what happened and how crazy it was. We were in the Wildwood Villas by then and once again another extremely bright hovering white light. This one did not move toward us and it must have departed when I had my attention averted elsewhere because at one point I looked for it and noticed it had left the area.
In the intermediary I have seen many morphing red lighted and silent craft, and excluding tonight the past 4 days have been a plethora of anomalous activity. I was seeing many strange objects in the sky one night last week and on a night that I had to stay up and finish an assignment for college and after I’d seen a triangle shaped craft pass overhead as well as the shifting strobe craft, but it wasn’t until about 4 in the morning that I noticed yet again a glowing orb like point of light that was only over the treeline in my woods by a visual mm and it remained there for over 3 hours. I thought it had to be a planet, but it was way below the ecliptic , the imaginary line planets remain fixed upon. and to confirm it was no inanimate object when I came back outside it had raised its altitude and moved considerably to my left. The third time I came out the object had disappeared. However I was very curious about what I’d seen so a bit later I went back outside and the same glowing light had returned or at least one very similar to it. But if it was the same it had moved north west corner of my small one street development and charted a course nearly due south and positioned itself just above the tree line once again.
Next thing was last Saturday during my shift working in cape may. I came out for a smoke break and saw very high hovering points of light that could easily have passed for stars….if they weren’t zigzagging around and making definite and sharp turns and it was accompanied by two more of the same craft at varying altitudes. Here is where it gets really nuts. I came back out with one of my coworkers later on and had already told him i’d seen some really strange things in the sky, and I directed his attention to one of the two objects still in attendance. One was moving and about to pass overhead when I said, “see look at that “star” behind it. Bet you ten bucks it’s not really a star!” Before he could open his mouth to speak the so called star began to move as well. Then for the grand finale both me and my coworker witnessed white horizontal streaks of light. one was so low to the ground and so close to us that it only matched the height of the top of the hotel where I work. Then my coworker spotted it three more times much further up in the sky and we both saw it when it appeared for the forth time.
Last night a silent craft only lit with a red light on one wing and a blue on the other and looked like what Keneth Arnold described seeing in the first UFO encounter of the modern age. That was followed by a low flying jet very brightly lit and that in turn was followed by a smaller jet at a slighty higher elevation. that in turn was followed by the strobe-light model UFO. Then the crazies thing I have ever seen in my life. I was sitting on the trunk of my car when I saw coming down from the sky and enormously bright, long flash of white light that began a sharp upwards curve as it passed down through the treeline bottomed out and was gone.
Now you tell me if Morris town was Good? Because from my angle I’d say it’s pretty detrimental. Mufon is actively ignoring reports from new Jersey and not including any of them in their updates or ufo traffic reports. I am seeing many of exact same things other people from other states are seeing as we speak, and I can’t get a living soul to listen to a single word I say. Because of Morristown, I now have to go out of my way to keep a detailed log book with sighting observations and written reports witness testimony, photographic evidence after i go out and by a 35mm camera and tripod next time I get paid. I am going to keep a log for every single day this summer and after an enormous and detailed compilation of credible evidence has been put together, I’ll blow the smokestack off Morristown. I am leaning towards there being an actual sighting in Morristown and these idiots who are well known ufo skeptics based on, “scientific reason” were paid off by those interested in keeping Morristown secret to hoax a series of sighting to then discredit any future NJ sightings because of the paranoid tendencies of most UFO researchers. But make no mistake. Something IS going on!
Nicely put Eric Marks, sad that these hoaxers have caused people to not trust reports coming out of Morristown, just hope it subsides at some point.
The good I was talking about with this and other high profile hoaxes is not in the effect they have on legit cases, but on the effect it may have on wannabe hoaxers. There’s been a couple high profile hoaxes in recent times with the end results for those involved not being very positive, so hopefully that could be enough to deter people from pulling of a major hoax. That said, even the little hoaxers out there on the net seem to be overshadowing almost everything legit, so much skepticism out there and not the good kind either.
Thanks for the great comment Eric Marks, just realized how badly I titled this post.
Text documents and some low quality photo’s are not doing the trick anymore. I want to believe but the Skeptic in me is aware there is more huanted people then there is huanted places that will write up anything alter imaging and sware in a court room as to what they think they seen. yes this will make the job harder for those looking to provide UFO or proof for anything unknown.
I think of the Phoenix Arazona lights, how come that area dont have any spotlights the size of the Bat-signal to shine up into the sky if such lights/craft is lingering.
Law enforcement used Binoculars to see this was flares on baloons, how come our UFO hunters are not usen Binoculars? or even invest in a camra attachment to some toy store telescope?
the title here is good, witness and hunters are just going to have to up the ante on such findings then this will do us all a whole lot better.
